DESCRIPTION:As part of the Lewisville Centennial Celebration come experience the Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra Society’s live orchestra performance to the score of the film\, The Freshman (1925) starring Harold Lloyd. The Freshman is a classic “college comedy” of the 1920s portraying Harold Lloyd as he enrolls at Tate University for this hilarious telling of university life\, sports\, and more. The evening will include this feature length silent comedy and include several stand-alone ragtime and early jazz pieces. \n\n\n\nThe 12-piece Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra accompanies classic silent films with their original\, historic orchestral scores and sound effects. DESCRIPTION:The City of Lewisville is proud to announce the installation of four rotating history exhibits as part of its year-long Centennial Celebration marking its 100th birthday in 2025. \n\n\n\nThe static exhibits highlighting elements of Lewisville’s history will be displayed on rotation at four locations around the city from Friday\, Jan. 3\, through Wednesday\, Dec. 31. \n\n\n\nRotating History Exhibits: \n\n\n\nWelcome to Lewisville: An exhibit documenting how people got to Lewisville over the 100 (actually\, 180!) years of its existence\, including the stagecoach routes; the railroads; the interurban; the Hobby Highway; the Interstate; Main Street signs; and landmarks. This exhibit will be on display at Lewisville Public Library. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLewisville by the numbers: An exhibit documenting the numerical\, explosive growth of Lewisville using census records\, newspaper clippings\, immigration records\, and photographs. This exhibit will be on display at Lewisville City Hall. \n\n\n\nLewisville in War and Peace: An exhibit documenting how the city reacted to wars\, as well as soldiers who sacrificed all for war efforts\, through news clippings and photographs. This exhibit will be on display at The Vista shopping center. \n\n\n\nLewisville from the Air: An exhibit chronicling the growth of Lewisville from a dot on the map – Holford’s Prairie\, Lexington Post Office\, Lewisville (aka Louisville) – and its historic growth using high photographs\, aerial photographs\, and maps. This exhibit will be on display at Thrive. \n\n\n\nAll these exhibits are free. They will rotate from location to location every three months. The locations where these exhibits can be seen are: \n\n\n\n\nLewisville City Hall\, 151 W. Church Street. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday\, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 7:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday.\n\n\n\nLewisville Public Library\, 1197 W. Main Street. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday-Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.\n\n\n\nThrive\, 1950 S. Valley Parkway. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 5 a.m. – 9 p.m.\, Friday: 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.\, Saturday: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.\n\n\n\nThe Vista shopping center\, 2401 S. Stemmons Freeway.
