THE HISTORY
Lewisville Baptist Church was organized February 18, 1861, in the home of L.T. Higgins. The church began with nine charter members and was called the Steward’s Creek Baptist Church. Its first building was constructed in Steward’s Creek Settlement east of Lewisville in 1897 and later burned and was replaced. The church moved to Lewisville in 1952, buying land on Houston Street and moving its existing building. It renamed to Lewisville Missionary Baptist Church in 1961, and Lewisville Baptist Church in 1974. It stopped meeting sometime around 1997. Its former building is occupied by Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church in 2022.
