THE HISTORY

Western Week started was started in 1973 by local civic groups, including the Chamber of Commerce, and held annually in conjunction with the Labor Day Rodeo. The festival took a multi-year break in the early 2000s due to a lack of volunteers, then was brought back as Western Day in 2004 by Old Town Business Association. It was assigned to the City in 2007 and later expanded to two days and moved to the last full weekend in September.
