THE ITEM

A chromed shovel with a wooden shaft and a chrome and wood handle. A metal nameplate in the shovel face has the City logo and information about the City Hall Groundbreaking.

THE HISTORY

Lewisville City Hall construction at 151 W. Church Street started in 2001. Mayor Gene Carey used this shovel during a groundbreaking ceremony on November 28, 2001. The building opened Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, and a grand opening celebration held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003.
