THE ITEM
Black and white photo, measuring approx. 3.75 inches by 5.75 inches, attached to a tan cardboard frame measuring approx. 6 inches by 9 inches. Handwritten note on the back says, “Jimmy Williams” and “George Williams’ Father.”
THE HISTORY
This photo has been identified as Confederate veteran James C. Williams who, at age 72, walked about 1,500 miles from Lewisville to Macon, Georgia, for a Confederate reunion in 1912. He left Lewisville on February 26 and reached Macon on May 2.
