The City of Lewisville is proud to announce the installation of four rotating history exhibits as part of its year-long Centennial Celebration marking its 100th birthday in 2025.
The static exhibits highlighting elements of Lewisville’s history will be displayed on rotation at four locations around the city from Friday, Jan. 3, through Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Rotating History Exhibits:
Welcome to Lewisville: An exhibit documenting how people got to Lewisville over the 100 (actually, 180!) years of its existence, including the stagecoach routes; the railroads; the interurban; the Hobby Highway; the Interstate; Main Street signs; and landmarks. This exhibit will be on display at Lewisville Public Library.
Lewisville by the numbers: An exhibit documenting the numerical, explosive growth of Lewisville using census records, newspaper clippings, immigration records, and photographs. This exhibit will be on display at Lewisville City Hall.
Lewisville in War and Peace: An exhibit documenting how the city reacted to wars, as well as soldiers who sacrificed all for war efforts, through news clippings and photographs. This exhibit will be on display at The Vista shopping center.
Lewisville from the Air: An exhibit chronicling the growth of Lewisville from a dot on the map – Holford’s Prairie, Lexington Post Office, Lewisville (aka Louisville) – and its historic growth using high photographs, aerial photographs, and maps. This exhibit will be on display at Thrive.
All these exhibits are free. They will rotate from location to location every three months. The locations where these exhibits can be seen are:
